Bullying Book

Image
How to get Help When You Have a Bully   This book available at Amazon.com has two versions.  The one I illustrated myself and the one I used ChatGPT for. I love them both.       Help children to understand, face and survive bullying. It happens to most children these day. Talk with your child about how to deal with their own situations.

The Plan

Image
For months I focused on building my book quantity. Writing books and making them available on Amazon.  As a new writer I cannot expect to make many sales. Through researched I learned what to do during this journey and I came up with my plan... Have fun writing. Build my collections. Use AI for all of my illustrations as it is best on the wallet and fast. Having a real illustrator make the art takes much more time.  Book in person readings at local libraries. Invite everyone I know to come show support.  Have books available for purchase, if the libraries allow. Otherwise, just paper handouts with the QR code to my Amazon books.   Send books to popular Storytime Youtubers in case they want to do a session on one of my works.  Continue writing more books. Once I started writing...the ideas for books kept coming. I have a list of books to write in the future.     Currently I am at the point where I am going to reach out to local venues to...

Discovering ChatGPT

Image
Like many people I held off on accepting AI into my life. To delay robots and AI from taking over all of human kind's purposes and jobs. (j/k) Also,Like many people I am discovering ChatGPT for msyelf now. It is my new best friend!!!  As an author I was against using AI. It should not provide illustrations and especially not the words for books. If AI is doing the work then the "author" is not the author!   It also damages the market for real authors and illustrators. Not just by taking their jobs but by saturating the market. If it is too easy for anyone to produce books then the real author's works can get hidden among the sea of available product. Yet, finally I looked into AI generation for the average Joe. I tried it out on illustrations I already painted and sell in my animal book series. The results were astounding. 1) The quality of the art  was so professional and beautiful compared to my dinky paintings. To be fair , for children's book the bar for ...

In the Meantime...

Writing and publishing children's books takes time!  When you are learning how to do everything correctly; even if the story is simple and short the process is anything but that.  There are also times when all you can do is wait... Submit your book and wait for the format to be approved.   Fix the problem with your format, submit again then pray it goes through this time. Order a proof and wait for it to come in the mail.  Hire an illustrator and wait for the art to be complete. Order the final book and wait for it to come in the mail so that you can make social media content with the actual product in hand! Work hard, wait. Work hard, wait. Work hard, wait. Then comes the advertising and promoting of the books! That is a job in itself! True work! And that my friends is where I'm about to be. My books will be in my hands by the end of the week! Then I can work, work, work to spread the news of my series!  As well as the next book series which is alrea...

Becoming An Illustrator

Image
Ideally I do not want to be my own illustrator. Sure, I can draw and paint okay. I can impress little minds with my skillset. But am I an artist? Not in my mind. In today's world so many people have the skill set of creating digital illustrations! I love those illustrations. It is not something I have been able to accomplish myself!  My little sister IS an artist. As a hobby. So I turned to her "Will you illustrate my military kids book series?" She agreed. As a mom of a 5 year old herself and trying to help bring in some money for her own family, naturally, she is very busy already. Does she have time to be my illustrator? Seeing as we might not make any money for a while. It takes time to get books up and running and known to potential customers. Plus, there's the fact that I don't know what I'm doing.  This means I cannot look to her to do all of my books. So, what do I do? I decided to attempt to be my own illustrator for my very first book series. I di...

Becoming an Author

Image
Ever since I was a single young woman working at a daycare I have dreamed of becoming a real children's author! When I got married at age 22 I looked into making that happen. Back then we did not have all the information in the world at our fingertips as easy to find as we do today. Sure, we had the internet. I'm not that old! However, it was still in the process of becoming what it is today. Now, 2026, you can learn anything online. You have Youtube videos, websites, people's opinions and social media avenues to get information and education from! When I first tried to become an author I learned that it would $...lots of $. As a typical American newlywed I did not have access to lots of $. I talked to someone at a publishing company via the phone and they said I needed to put down $1000+ to get started. I took that as a major red flag. Was I being scammed? Did authors really have to fork out that much to get started? I was clueless. I had nowhere to turn to educate mysel...
